Online language course with onsite classroom lessons
  • Flexible and available from anywhere
  • 24 units over six months. You can learn at your own pace and finish the course earlier (Estimated learning time: about 36 hours)

  • A vocabulary trainer to expand your vocabulary
  • Focus on pronunciation as well as reading and listening comprehension

  • Confirmation of participation after solving 80% of the main exercises
  • Your profile
    • Your English language level corresponds to level  A2.
    • Determine your level using our free language placement test.
    • A willingness to spend around two hours on home study per week.
    • Your computer system must meet the technical requirements.
    • For the optional online private lesson you’ll need a webcam and a headset.
  • System requirements
    • Browser: Internet Explorer, version 10 or higher, MS Edge, Firefox, version 38 or higher, Chrome, version 43 or higher, Safari, version 8 or higher, Android, version 4 or higher.
    • Fast internet connection (at least 20 Mbit/s).
    • Sound card, microphone/headset.
    • For meetings in the online classroom on a PC or Mac:
      • Microsoft Windows, version 7 or higher or Mac 10.8 or higher.
      • Adobe® Flash® Player 13.0+.
    • For meetings in the online classroom on a mobile device:

  • Learning objectives

    The learning objectives for the English B1 course are based on the Common European Framework Reference (CEFR). At the end of the course, you will be able to

    • participate in conversations on various topics.
    • understand key information in reports on current events as well as topics related to your profession and areas of interest.
    • understand texts that use common day-to-day or professional language.
    • write personal letters, reporting on your experiences and impressions.
